10 Must See Florence Pugh Films

British native Florence Pugh is one of Hollywood’s top actresses right now, and for good reasons. The star earned an Oscar nomination for her role in “Little Women” by Greta Gerwig, but she has plenty of other underrated roles that showcase her fantastic acting skills. The self-made actress was discovered through an open audition for the British flick “The Falling,” in which she co-starred with Maisie Williams. After that, her career skyrocketed. She often takes on roles that show just how complex young women are and the struggles they face in society.

Playing the leading lady in the feminist take on Lady Macbeth also earned her accolades and turned her into a BAFTA nominee. If you’re a fan of Florence Pugh, these projects are a must-see.

1. Don’t Worry Darling

Directed by Olivia Wilde, this film is about women who challenge societal norms and the criticism they’ve dealt with through a psychological thriller lens. The internet went crazy over the trailer, which showed the unlikely pairing of Pugh with Harry Styles. We don’t want to give too much away with this insanely creative movie.

2. Lady MacBeth

Despite the name, this movie isn’t really based on a Shakespeare play. Instead, the title suggests the nature of the main character — a woman who has an affair with a man who’s working on her husband’s estate. The whole story gets slightly twisted when Pugh’s character, Catherine, pursues an unhinged kind of revenge. Pugh has made a name for herself when it comes to feminist rage and cult horror, and this movie is no exception.

3. Little Women

Pugh plays Jo’s little sister Amy in this movie, and she’s quite different from the protagonist, with a focus on winning her independence one day. During a media interview, Pugh explained that the film gave Amy a more significant role than the original “Little Women,” and she makes it her own with a performance that pays tribute to Amy’s true character as a feminist.

4. Midsommer

Often regarded as Pugh’s best indie role and the movie that launched her from indie to mainstream, Midsommer is a film that seems quite normal at first before it turns into a surprising horror movie. Pugh plays an American named Dani, who attends a Midsommer festival alongside her boyfriend.

5. Blackwidow

Florence Pugh played Yelena Belova in the series “Blackwidow.” Here, she plays Natasha Romanoff’s sister, teaming up with Blackwidow, which is part of the Marvel universe. She also played the character in a spin-off dubbed “Hawkeye,” which is equally packed with celebs and adventure.

6. The Wonder

This fascinating movie follows an English nurse in the nineteenth century who is called to the countryside to examine a girl who claims she doesn’t need food to survive. The movie, based on a book by Emma Donaghue, is rooted in a historical phenomenon across Europe where many young girls claimed to not need food for survival due to higher powers.

7. A Good Person

Pugh reunited with her ex-partner Zach Braff for the movie “A Good Person,” which was written and directed by Braff himself. The movie is about a woman who is falling apart due to substance abuse and a fatal accident. Throughout the film, she works to put her life back together, finding encouragement and support from her father-in-law.

8. The Falling

This movie marks a huge moment in Pugh’s life since it was her debut and breakout role. Released in 2018 alongside “Game of Thrones” starlet Maisie Williams, the film was about two best friends whose lives are suddenly filled with tragedy due to strange events, trauma, and illness.

9. Dune Part Two

Florence Pugh will play Princess Irulan in the much-awaited sequel to Dune, which will be released sometime in 2024. Irulan is one of Emperor Shaddam IV’s five daughters, and she will be given a larger role in the movie than her original presence in the book. Fans can’t wait to see her take on this role on the big screen.

10. Fighting With My Family

In a lighter role than usual with co-stars like The Rock, Vince Vaughn, and Lena Headey, Florence Pugh plays real-life WWE legend Saraya Bevis (her wrestler name is Paige) and her journey going from a daughter and sister helping out her family’s wrestling business to a WWE superstar. It’s a coming-of-age tale that merges drama, sports, and comedy, and it’s a fantastic role from the star.
