Jelani, the Selfie-Loving Gorilla
Visitors of Louisville Zoo, Kentucky, have an opportunity to witness a one-of-a-kind interaction between humans and animals that gives the Planet of the Apes movies an unexpected twist. You will be amazed how intelligent and curious animals are when you stumble upon Jelani – a silver-back 330-pound gorilla who is fond of looking at pictures of other gorillas on zoo-goers’ smart-phones. It’s mesmerizing that the 18-year old animal seems to enjoy exactly what human teenagers adore – swiping through photo libraries of his friends, looking for the most interesting and brightest pics and, naturally, posing for selfies himself. While teenagers are sometimes anti-social, it is the connection with humans that matters most for Jelani. He has strong bounds with two-legged creatures, and some people come every week to share new images with the simian selfie fan.

Say hello to a new Instagram celebrity – a magnificent low content wolfdog Loki (mix of husky, malamute and some arctic wolf). He’s huge, he’s fluffy and he’s traveling the world with his faithful human companion-slash-owner Kelly Lund.

Are you ready to treat yourself with “cuteness therapy”? Imagine some little creatures that the Internet is going crazy about. Nope, not kittens. Gosh, not puppies! Imagine some…slugs! Are you euh-yuck-gross-ing now? You definitely must have some guts if these crawling monsters don’t make your flesh…crawl! Now calm down! False alarm. Actually, there are slugs (stop shivering!) that absolutely do not resemble those brown mucus-secreting shell-less critters that love moist areas in your garden; on the contrary, the animals we’ll be talking about will easily leave you in awe. Have you heard of sea slugs? Millions of years of evolution turned marine gastropod mollusks into lovely creatures that are often brightly-colored to fit their environment.

Initially, sea slugs have become a source of admiration for Japanese fans. The country is famous for its love for ‘kawaii’, has fallen in love with these tiny ethereal animals. Now they are starting to get their share of attention all over the global Internet, as they seem to be perfect pets: no shedding, no stinky smell, no barking or meowing for no reason, and you can meditatively contemplate these loveable creatures for hours!

Sea bunny

If you’re thinking about celebrating Easter underwater, you should go scuba diving in Japan or the Philippines where creatures dubbed ‘sea bunnies’ live. Indeed, Jorunna parva is a sea slug that bears an uncanny resemblance to a fluffy bunny. They have furry tails and cute tiny ears which are actually organs that help them detect flavors and odors in the water. Japanese Twitter users compare them to snow rabbits coated in salt and sesame seeds, but despite looking extremely delicious, they’re certainly not edible.

Wow…this guy right here is the cutest bear you’ve ever seen. When we are talking about bears, most of us imagine a polar bear sitting in the kitchen and driving vodka with some Russian guy but a Photographer named Dennis Fast captured some unique shots of the happiest polar bears. You know, sometimes these wild animals are so kind and open-hearted that people can’t do anythung but say ‘Aww’.
The summertime is the perfect time of year, and even polar bears, draped in fur, like to enjoy hot weather. Just imagine polar bears basking in a field full of beautiful flowers with nothing but the sun and good vibes embracing them. Who would ever deny the chance to take a photo of this? No one.

Meet John Stortz. As a kid, John experienced a lot of social anxieties and shyness. Therefore he has always enjoyed solitude. But he also enjoyed creating art! So John became an illustrator, and quite a talented one. John grew up in South Carolina and decided to move to New York to enroll to an art school. After graduating, the young artist decided to move to Wyoming. He’s lived in a cabin in a middle of nowhere for 8 months with his best friend – his dog. Obviously, it is a little uncommon for a 24 year old guy to isolate himself from society so radically.
During all of that time John had an Instagram account (https://instagram.com/johnstortz/ ) on which he posted photos of his solitary journeys until one day a girl posted his photo and said “you should follow this guy, he’s really interesting!” And in a blink of an eye, lonesome traveler John turned into a famous person with an audience that became his loyal fans. Suddenly, his Instagram account turned into the confidence boost he always needed. While the amount of likes and followers was approaching the speed of light, John made friends with people on Instagram, moved out of the cabin, settled down in California and live a happy life. His photos, his art, and his Instagram have affected his life in ways he never expected them to.

Unfortunately, not all animals are treated with love and respect. Animal abuse still remains one of the greatest issues that needs to be resolved. Luckily, there are countries such as India and Thailand where animals have been traditionally considered sacred. In Hinduism, animals are key element of every religious ceremony. Nepal’s Festival To Celebrate Dogs
There is an anual festival in Nepal that thanks dogs for being our friends. On this day, hundreds of dogs are showered with love and attention. It’s not only about the domestic dogs, but the stray ones as well. The dogs are offered garlands, tika (a mark on the forehead) and tons of delicious treats, all in an effort to express appreciation for their loyalty. Now, that’s how animals should be treated.

Seth Casteel is an award-winning animal photographer who has been featured in the largest magazines such as the New York Times and National Geographic. His series of photos entitled ‘Underwater Dogs’ went viral overnight and made him famous worldwide. Seth managed to capture the man’s best friend in the most unusual environment – underwater.

The idea came up quite unexpectedly. The dog he was photographing at that moment, Buster the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (below), decided to turn their “on-land” photo shoot into an “in-the-pool” shoot when he started jumping in over and over again in pursuit of his favorite tennis ball.

1) Incisovisaurus – discovered in China; this 3-foot long fellow is nothing short of weird. I mean, just look at those teeth! It had a face of a raptor, the buckteeth of a rodent, a body of an ostrich and hands and feet of a chicken.

2) Sharovipteryx is so weird looking, it almost seems like an evolutionary mistake. It’s the only known glider species that grew wings on their legs. How did it even walk with those long hind legs?

There’s a new trend among pet owners in Taiwan and it’s about to go viral. The Taiwanese pet groomers are taking pet grooming to a whole new level. They invented a new trend of giving dogs perfectly square or round haircuts to highlight their adorable faces and their individuality. It looks just as hilarious as it sounds.

We couldn’t help but notice that these “trendy” haircuts can transform your dog’s face so that it looks like a completely new breed of dog. See how a pair of scissors can turn your cute puppy into a geometric masterpiece. While the groomers insist that the dog is not harmed by the unusual cut, some concerned dog lovers are questioning the trend. Can it actually be psychologically harmful to do this to your best friend?

Rabbit Show Jumping

The first on our list – probably the cutest sport ever invented – rabbit show jumping. We believe horse show jumping inspired it, only here we have the specially-bred bunnies leaping over much smaller obstacles. This adorable sport originated in Sweden and spread to UK and America. So, you can always Google your local rabbit show jumping club and enjoy the show yourself.

Cricket spitting

Cricket spitting rules are simple: grab a dead cricket, put it your mouth and spit it as far as you possibly can. The contestant who managed to spit the cricket the farthest is a winner. This ‘yummy’ game was invented by the entomologist Tom Turpin at Purdue University for the annual Bug Bowl. Since then, the game is played at many other universities and events.

Snail Racing

Snail racing…ready, steady, slow. In this peculiar game, two or more land snails are racing on a circular track with a radius of 13-14 inches. In order to distinguish each competitor, they paint a racing number on the snail’s shell or attach small stickers to them. There are many snail-racing events held around the world, but the annual World Snail Racing Championships in the U.K. are the most popular.

Elephant Basketball

This is probably one of the main reasons we want to visit Thailand. Elephants are being trained to play basketball as part of an innovative regime to improve their health and vitality. The training starts with learning of basic ball control skills. Then the keepers teach the elephants how to stand on their hind legs, walk with the ball and finally shoot it through the hoop. It takes a lot of hard work to train an elephant but it’s totally worth it. The show is spectacular.

Dog surfing

This “fluffy” sport is gaining popularity as well. If you love dogs and surfing, and you can train your dog to stand upright on a surfing board while the waves hit you, this sport is for you. The game began its way in San Diego, and it has become quite a big deal in Australia as well.

Pig Olympics

This sport is probably the most eventful. The Pig Olympic ‘athletes’ compete in swimming, they run races, even split into teams to chase a soccer ball covered in fish oil. And we can assure you these piglets will never end up on the dinner table.  They just go on to produce a new generation of athletic sport pigs.
