The Best Colors For a Man’s Bedroom, According to Feng Shui

The hardest decisions in life usually boil down to which color you’ll be painting your bedroom in. It’s the one room most people won’t see, but you really want to appear as a normal, stable yet unique person to the people that do. It’s a tightrope very few manage to balance on, especially men. We’re just bad at this kind of thing.

Thankfully, from the continent that gave us martial arts and sushi, came the art of decorating called Feng Shui. Let’s see what they have to say about the matter.

Blue

Blue in traditional Feng Shui signifies a person that is looking for spiritual growth. The hard part about this is trying to figure out which blue to use, because there are so many ways where your subliminal message can go from “I want to grow as a person” to “I wish to produce a male heir.” Not saying baby blue isn’t a nice color when used sparingly, but it’s just not really what we’re going for here.

Red

The color red signifies fame. Now, if you’d actually achieved this in life, I doubt you’d need your bedroom painted red to make a point, but I guess fame can be interpreted in more ways than just the classic “people know my name.” Once again, this is a color that can go wrong very quickly because you can imagine people won’t look at you as a celebrity if your bedroom is painted in blood red.

Green

If you want to paint your bedroom green, you’ll be sending out the purest vibes of health. It won’t actually do anything to improve the health of anyone in the room, but at least your room itself will somehow look and feel healthier. As with all colors on this list – by now you probably get it – make sure that not every green applies. Fluorescent green is not a healthy color at all, in any culture.

Salmon

I’m not going to call it pink because this isn’t a Barbie dollhouse, but a salmon-colored room signifies things like love, marriage, and commitment. If there’s ever a more ironic color to paint the magic room in your bachelor pad, I’ll let you know. I doubt we can beat this, though.

Gray

Anyone who paints his bedroom a dark-ish gray (we’re not death metal fans here) is someone that appreciates a proper career. While that might not be the best message to send a potential significant other, it’s just how it is.

Yellow

While it takes a skilled interior decorator to make this color work, the more gold-ish yellows are usually associated with wealth and money, whereas the normal yellows are colors that radiate happiness and warmth. Keep that in mind when picking your colors, because a small difference in color can mean a whole different thing, apparently.

White

White or light gray is best used for creative and helpful people. They’re very much neutral colors, so it only makes sense that these would be used for people that either try to make the most of a blank canvas or people that don’t want to take the front stage over someone else. It’s also the best color to pick if you can’t decide on a color, since it goes with pretty much everything.
