While people speculated a lot about Meghan being pregnant, the official announcement from the royals came in October of 2018. They were very vague about the due date and just said the baby is expected in the spring of 2019.

The Birth

Meghan and Harry’s baby was born early in the morning on the 6th of May. At 05:26 AM to be exact. According to the royal records the baby boy weighed 7lbs 3oz. Prince Harry was present at the birth and very excited about seeing his first child.

Late Arrival

Even though the exact due date was never officially disclosed before the birth of the child. In one of the first interviews, Harry did reveal that the baby arrived a little later than they expected.

Formal Introduction

While Prince Harry did give a short interview on the day his kid was born to let everyone know it’s a boy and that everyone’s doing well, Meghan chose to wait a couple of days before introducing her baby to the world. While Kate and William took photos just a couple of hours after birth, Meghan and Harry waited 2 days before they followed suit and took official pictures with the baby at Windsor Castle.

During the first interview together after the baby was born the couple revealed that they were thrilled with how sweet their kid was. Apparently, they were blessed with a really calm baby.

Many speculated on the topic of what will they name the royal baby. Most agreed they would probably want something unique but will probably go along with the royal tradition and pick an old traditional family name. But Meghan and Harry went for unique and named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Archie is short for Archibald and it’s not exactly a traditional English name. It’s actually of German origin. The last name is a hyphenated version of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip’s last names.

Place of Birth

Most people thought that Archie was born at Frogmore Cottage and it was a home birth, but it was later revealed that Meghan gave birth at a private London hospital the Portland. It’s actually the only private maternity hospital in the UK.

Since Meghan doesn’t have British citizenship just yet, this means that her baby has dual citizenship. It’s both American and British. But most people think that eventually, the baby will renounce American citizenship because of tax laws.

Meghan even took a modern approach to the nursery decorations. There was no baby blue decor for her child, instead, she went for the monochrome approach. Whites and shades of grey. It probably looks very stylish.
