Mothers really don’t get enough credit for all the things they do. They take care of their kids, they make the house feel cosy with their loving touches, and they are generally the ones who create delicious and nutritious meals.

Jolanda Stokkermans is a mom from a little town in Belgium that clearly goes the extra mile when it comes to creating meals for her family.

Initially, Jolanda just wanted to prep food for the week, you know the usual meal prepping that consists of making a few meals in one day, putting them in containers and having them for the rest of the week. It’s a common way of cooking for those who don’t have the time to cook every day but still want to have healthy meals rather than relying on the microwave or freezer-ready meals. It saves time, that’s for sure.

But once Jolanda got going she couldn’t stop just boring meal prep. Pretty soon she found herself making the food into pretty pictures of animals and portraits of people. Honestly, at this point, we’re pretty sure this kind of food presentation is considered to be a work of art. I mean, just look at it.

Jolanda Stokkermans says that it takes her between two and four hours to create one of these gorgeous food platters that will make any kid excited to have lunch.

She starts out her process by looking at what ingredients she has in the fridge and a lot of the time something will inspire her and create an image in her mind and off she goes creating food masterpieces.

Jolanda makes sure that every element in her dish is edible, so nothing is purely for decoration and should be taken off before eating. It’s all made of food, and sometimes food coloring is used. But in most cases, Jolanda uses spices and vegetable juices almost like paint to add color and dimension to her food art.

What’s also interesting is that Jolanda didn’t set out for internet success and stardom. She was just doing it at home for her kids and because she found the process to be creatively engaging and enjoyable. It was the kids who encouraged their mom to set up an Instagram profile and share her creations with the world.

Clearly, the kids saw the potential in Jolanda and knew this would do well online because Jolanda’s Instagram blew up and she already has 16k followers.
