10 Countries that Have the Most Fun!

We all want to experience joy and have fun as often as possible. Not all of us have the opportunity to really make that happen, though. Sometimes it’s a personal thing, sometimes it’s a lack of friends who share your interests, but you have to admit — sometimes it’s the environment you’re in! I’m not saying that moving to another country is going to change your life and make you have more fun. What I’m about to do is just share a list of the 10 countries where people have the most fun!

10. Brazil

Now, keep in mind that this is by no means a conclusively 100% scientific study, but Brazil opens up the top 10 of “funnest countries” with the statistic of people having (on average) 10.9 fun days a month with 26.1% of survey respondents saying they have fun on “most days”. Spoiler: a lot of countries on this list are in the Latin America region. We’ll get into conjectures about why later.

9. Netherlands

I’m not going to attribute the fact that many people from the Netherlands have a lot of fun because recreational marijuana is legalized there. If anything, having visited the country myself, I’d be more likely to attribute it to the laid-back atmosphere, the very bike-friendly cities, and the fact that many people from the Netherlands have managed to find a healthy work-life balance.

People from the Netherlands have 11.2 fun days a month with 28.5% of survey respondents saying that they are having fun on “most days”.

8. UK

You’ve seen how they behave at sporting events, so you know that people from the UK know how to have fun! They have an average of 11.3 fun days a month. That just happens to coincide with the number of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. Besides, “happy hour” culture is strong in the big cities! If you ever visit London you’ll find many business men having beers with their friends at local pubs immediately after work.

7. Italy

I’m 90% sure that Italy is on this list because Italians really love eating and they have some of the best food in the world! Italians value family life, so I’m sure many of them consider family dinners a fun time. 29.6% of survey respondents said that they have fun on “most days”, while the average number of fun days a month is 11.6.

To be honest, any day when I’m having pizza counts as a fun day in my book, so I get why Italy is on this list!

6. USA

Here’s a country I’m very surprised to see on this list! People in the US have 11.7 fun days a month with a whopping 30.8% of people saying that they have fun “most days”. I mean, I don’t get that kind of impression from the people I follow on Twitter, but the United States do have a staggering number of ways to have fun. There’s clubs, cinemas, parties on college campuses, various conventions and festivals, etc.

5. Germany

If your whole mental image of Germany is based on the stereotypically reserved, business-oriented, and straight-to-the-point Germans, you’ve got another thing coming! If you’ve ever been to a German bar or pub then you know they know how to have a good time! And if there’s a football match going on? You can bet all your money that they’re having the time of their life. Besides, cities like Berlin are famous for their clubbing scene and rave culture. Germans have an average of 12.1 fun days a month, with 31.1% of people saying they have fun on “most days”.

4. Spain

It’s at this point on the list that we move into countries whose overall level of happiness and “fun” is definitely influenced by their warm climates and affinity to spending time outside. Spanish people have 12.9 fun days a month and 34.2% of people say they have fun on “most days”. The stereotypes about Spanish people and the data seem to correlate — spending time together, outside, in the good weather generally makes people feel like they’re having fun!

3. Turkey

13 days of fun per month! We’re getting into the territory where people are likely having fun during every single day of the weekend (plus Friday)! 35.1% of people say they have fun on “most days”.

2. Mexico

Everybody knows the song about tequila and how it makes you happy, but drinking is definitely not the deciding factor in how much fun Mexican people have. They say they have 13.7 fun days every month, and 36.8% of people say they have fun on “most days”. If you’ve ever been to Mexico you know that there is music playing everywhere and that people from Mexico generally never say “no” to an opportunity to do something fun (whether it’s playing football, going out, or dancing). The key deciding factor in many of these surveys seems to be about how much people want to have fun! And where there is a “want” there is a way!

1. Argentina

And here we are, right at the peak, in Argentina, where people have the most fun! They have fun almost every other day (14.8 days a month), and a whopping 41.6% of people say they have fun on “most days”. Surprisingly, this is the first country where the “fun most days” percentage is actually very close to the actual number of days per month when they have fun. But what’s the key? Most people from Argentina have a larger circle of close friends, the climate is great, and they are very open about expressing their feelings!
