I’ve basically been raised on monster movies like Godzilla and, technically, Power Rangers. There’s something extremely fascinating about watching a badass-looking Monster destroying cities and/or other monsters… And recently we had Pacific Rim and a NEW Godzilla, but monsters in movies come in all shapes and sizes, and today I’ll show you my private stash of top-notch creature features!
These are the top 8 most blood-chilling movie monsters of all time!
1. Audrey II, “Little Shop of Horrors”
I don’t know about you, but this movie used to creep me out a lot when I were a kid. Probably because it’s not a kids movie, yeah. Audrey is just your regular old plant monstrosity, with an affinity for spontaneous singing and eating unsuspecting humans. For some reason, I don’t remember the plot of the movie at all, just my skin crawling when I heard “Feed me, Seymour!” and saw those razor sharp teeth!
2. Cloverfield Monster, “Cloverfield”
The unknown is way more terrifying than something you can see or touch. So far we’ve had 3 movies in the Cloverfield universe, and most of the time the monsters weren’t seen for like 90% of the movie duration. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? That’s up to you to decide. Those 10% of on-screen time does make the creatures a bit less menacing and horror-inducing, especially when you see puny humans fight them, but the movies work great overall!
3. The Behemoth, “The Mist”
Speaking of something you can’t see, we have the monsters from The Mist. The movie is great, the premise is okay, the plot is… well, there’s something that looks like a plot, but the creatures, oh man, the creatures still give me the hebe-jeebies to this day! The giant bugs, the tentacles with teeth, and of course the final boss – the Behemoth! We only saw it for a few seconds but I’d be lying if I told you that this Lovecraftian beast did not look horrifying. We’re but some ants for this dude…
