These days, there’s pretty much TV shows about every theme you can think of. Sadly, most of them are pretty flat and lack any real depth to make them interesting and memorable. I guess it’s a side effect of trying to get as much rating as possible. The easier your show is to understand, the more people will watch it.
Luckily, there are some shows that break the mold and still try to be clever whenever they can. Behold, the smartest shows that you aren’t watching right now! Unless you are, in which case: good job.
Counterpart
It stars J.K. Simmons so I’m not sure what else you expect me to tell you to convince you to watch this. It’s a sci-fi show about alternate dimensions. Still nothing? Jeez, tough crowd.
You’re The Worst
This drama series has been going on for quite a few years, and it’s still managed to set itself apart from the rest. That alone deserves respect. It’s a good, solid, and ironic comedy.
Channel Zero
It’s still relatively new, but it’s a show based on “internet creepypastas”. Let’s be honest: isn’t that what we all want in life?
Taboo
It’s a series by Tom Hardy, starring Tom Hardy. It’s like what The Rock does to action movies, only good and worth a watch.
Trial & Error
This is a comedy show that’s made to look like a documentary. Double the fun if you watch Making a Murderer before watching this.
Killing Eve
This is based on books, so it’s better than things not based on anything. This sounds like nonsense, but it’s true. It’s a relatively new show, but it’s worth it if you’re into thrillers and stuff.
Search Party
A dark comedy about disappearing people? If this show starred kids, it’d almost be like Stranger Things.
Peaky Blinders
Seriously, if you’re not watching this show already, what are you ever doing with your life?
