Coyote Ugly came out on August 4, 2000, and followed Violet Sanford (Piper Perabo), a New Jersey songwriter who moves to NYC chasing a music career, immediately gets humbled, and ends up working at the loudest, boldest bar in town.
The cast was stacked with big names like Tyra Banks, Izabella Miko, and John Goodman, the soundtrack lived in everyone’s brain rent-free, and the sequel rumors still refuse to die. Piper Perabo even said in July 2025 that there had been talks and key people were discussing the big return. No official sequel yet, but the interest is definitely still there.
Now, here’s a quick look at the cast and what they are up to now.
Piper Perabo – Violet Sanford
After realizing just how far she’d fallen, Violet slowly started turning into the main character. She was terrified, messy, but still kept going. After Coyote Ugly, Piper kept getting movie roles, but her big TV era was Covert Affairs, which scored her a Golden Globe nomination. More recently, she jumped into the Yellowstone world as Summer Higgins, who causes the exact kind of chaos that the show thrives on. She married director-producer Stephen Kay in 2014, and she’s openly into the idea of doing more Coyote Ugly.

Tyra Banks – Zoe
Tyra was already busy being a successful supermodel, but some acting experience never hurt anyone’s résumé. After Coyote Ugly, she built a full TV empire with America’s Next Top Model, which ran for 15 seasons. She also hosted Dancing with the Stars from 2020 to 2023. Tyra has said she’d love to do a sequel. In the mid-2020s, she was reported to be dating businessman Louis Bélanger-Martin, and they appear to be going steady to this day.

Maria Bello – Lil
Playing the hard-ass boss must have been quite an experience for Maria Bello. She stayed consistently busy even after the movie, with roles across major films and TV. She’s known for ER, and later showed up in movies like Grown Ups (2010) and Lights Out (2016), plus TV series like Goliath and NCIS. She shares a son with ex Dan McDermott and reportedly married chef Dominique Crenn in April 2024.

Izabella Miko – Cammie
Cammie was part of the core crew, and Coyote Ugly was Izabella Miko’s first Hollywood role. In 2025, she joked about how, not long before the movie, she was doing random jobs in Times Square and even popping into AA meetings for the free snacks. After the film, she kept working with roles in Save the Last Dance 2 (2006), Step Up: All In (2014), and she appeared on NCIS: Hawai’i in 2022.

Bridget Moynahan – Rachel
Bridget Moynahan’s acting career took off fast after Coyote Ugly. Around the same time, she appeared on Sex and the City as Natasha, and if you remember that storyline, you know it made people feel things. She later starred in Six Degrees and had a long run on Blue Bloods. Moynahan has a son, Jack, with ex Tom Brady, and she married NYC businessman Andrew Frankel in 2015.

John Goodman – Bill Sanford
John Goodman played Violet’s dad, aka the human embodiment of unconditional support mixed with the avatar of anxiety. He was already a legend by 2000 and has basically never stopped working. Goodman’s filmography includes hits like The Big Lebowski and 10 Cloverfield Lane, and, of course, his TV career is iconic, with shows like The Conners and Roseanne. He’s been married to Anna Beth Goodman since 1989, and they have one daughter.

Adam Garcia – Kevin O’Donnell
Kevin was the charming love interest who didn’t feel completely fake, which is rare in movies where everyone is permanently rizzing it up. Adam Garcia got the audition after being seen in the Saturday Night Fever musical on London’s West End due to his stellar stage presence. He’s continued acting, appearing in 2022’s Death on the Nile. Today, he’s married to Nathalia Chubin, and they have two kids.

Melanie Lynskey – Gloria
Gloria was Violet’s sweet, loyal best friend — the person you’d call after a breakdown and before making a decision you’d regret later. Melanie Lynskey has had the ultimate slow-burn-to-superstar career. She’s popped up in shows like Two and a Half Men, Togetherness, Mrs. America, and Candy. Then she hit a whole new level with Yellowjackets, earning Emmy nominations in 2022 and 2023. She also appeared in The Last of Us in 2023 as Kathleen, which scored her another Emmy nod.
