The Best And Worst Movies The Rock Made

Advertisements

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson seems to be making more movies than anyone can count, these days. As the years go by, it’s getting harder and harder to keep up. First Jumanji was in theaters, now Rampage and we’ve already got Skyscraper coming up. I can barely stick to a monthly deadline and Dwayne pops out three movies in a year. A year that isn’t even halfway yet!

Since it’s getting so hard to separate his good from his bad movies, it seemed only fair that we list them out for you. Because we care.

Worst: G.I. Joe Retaliation (2013)
This movie honestly didn’t even need to exist. The first one wasn’t good, the second one was infinitely worse.

Best: Baywatch (2017)
It’s not easy to remake an 80’s tv show into a modern action comedy flick, but I have to admit I pretty much enjoyed it. And it’s hard for me to enjoy stuff that has Zac Efron in it.

Worst: Doom (2005)
It almost looked like The Rock’s career was doomed after this one. Get it? Doom-ed?

Best: Gridiron Gang (2006)
I mean, it’s got Xzibit and the Rock doing their own variant of Coach Carter. What’s not to like about it? Honestly, the movie has better acting and story than the cast would make you think.

Worst: Tooth Fairy (2010)
Doubt we need to say much about this one. The Rock trying to do a pure comedy movie. Every action movie actor has a period like this. The Rock’s wasn’t too long, thankfully.

Best: Pain & Gain (2013)
It’s based on a true story, it’s about stupid criminals and it has Marky Mark along with Dwayne Johnson. This movie is the best thing Michael Bay did since Transformers.

Worst: San Andreas (2015)
I really don’t get all those “it’s the end of the world but ol’ Dwayne has to save his wife and kids first” stuff Dwayne Johnson has going on, and San Andreas was – despite the heavy visual effects – pretty slow in terms of pacing. It’s just loads of rising water, buildings collapsing and people trying to climb collapsing buildings to escape the rising water.

Best: Hercules (2014)
Hercules as more of a really strong guy with a good PR machine instead of an actual hero. It wasn’t half as bad as it sounds, it’s actually very entertaining!

Worst: The Other Guys (2013)
To be fair, Dwayne barely had a part in this, but he was in it and it was a horrible movie, so it counts! Typical Will Ferrell comedy, but not the “Anchorman” Will Ferrell comedy, sadly.

Best: Fast & Furious Series (2015 – God Knows When)
The Rock’s introduction to this series was honestly the revival it needed after getting horribly stale. Not sure how long the momentum of his introduction will carry the series, but we’ll find out soon enough!
