If the last decade or so, there have been many transgendered celebrities who’ve made waves in entertainment. They have been making strides to change the way transgender people are viewed in society. Transgender people have been on the leading charge of the gay rights movement and have shown just how brave they are as a subset of the LGBTQ+ community. They have found inspiring ways to challenge the status quo and to elevate the thinking of the nation in terms of queer people.  Here are 10 transgender celebrities who are breaking down barriers.

Caitlyn Jenner has become one of the most well known transgender celebrities of all time. She is known as having one of the most talked about and media covered coming out stories of the modern era. Her transition was the subject of much debate and controversy, but went on to win awards for her courage, such as the ESPY Awards and the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

Ines Rau

Ines Rau is a French Algerian model who became the first transgender model to appear in Playboy Magazine. Back in 2017, Rau appeared as the magazine’s center fold in the November issue. She can be seen fully unclothed, and her appearance in the magazine was both bold and inspiring. 

Valentina Sampaio

The beautiful Valentina Sampaio is a Brazilian actress and model. She rose to stardom back in 2019 as the first openly trans model to work for Victoria’s Secret in August. She also became the very first trans model to appear in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. 

Nikkie De Jager

With over 1 billion views on YouTube, Nikkie de Jager is one of the biggest transgender makeup artists and online influencers. She came out as trans in early 2020. She has one awards for her work, such as the Teen Choice Awards. 

Conchita Wurst

Known by his stage name Conchita, Thomas Neuwirth is an Austrian singer, drag queen and recording artist. He received national acclaim after winning the 2014 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. He was Austria’s participant and sung the song Rise Like the Phoenix. 

Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox has become another super famous trans celeb and is an actor and activist. She is best known for her role on Orange is the New Black, a Netflix original series. She has done amazing things in her field, and has become the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy for acting. She also became the first transgender person to have her own regular role on a series, with the show Doubt on CBS. 

Isis King

Isis King is a trans model and fashion designer. She was a contestant on the reality show America’s Next Top Model for the eleventh and seventeenth cycle of the series. 

Indya Moore

Having come to the public eye when they began starring in Pose, Indya Moore is a well known trans celeb in her own right. They star as Angel Evangelista on Pose. They were named one of Time’s most influential people in the world back in 2019.

Left at London, also known as Nat Puff, is a trans singer and song writer, as well as a general internet star. She has made herself popular with her unique and original music, including her album called Transgender Street Legend

Andreja Pejic is a Bosnian Australian model and also an actor. She has become known as the world’s very first androgynous supermodel. She came out as trans back in 2013 and has become one of the more popular and recognizable trans models ever. She has modeled both women’s and men’s apparel. She’s appeared on Britain and Ireland’s next Top Model as a judge. She also acted in the film The Girl in the Spider’s Web in 2018.
