Rog Walker is a photographer who lives and works in New York City. The majority of his unique works are classic style portraits. Rog’s portraits are realistic and intimate. His photos do not hold the unnecessary glamour. They are true and unforced.
He also works in the documentary genre where he explores miscellaneous ideas within current culture.
Photography is the most organic method of communication Rog utilizes photography well has, it is the way he speaks to the world. As a creative Walker can’t ignore his inner voice. He wants to tell his particular story. “Whenever I’m out, I’m constantly thinking about potential stories that exist in everything I’m seeing. The simplest things can draw my eye, but I’m usually draw to urban decay, construction, and people or things that exhibit a bit of ‘ruggedness’. I’m not sure how or when I became interested in pre and post cultural development, but construction and destruction definitely serve as strong triggers for my creative process. On a personal level, I really enjoy learning about the history and stories that exist in the urban areas my wife, Bee, and I have discovered.”
In his works Walker is trying to create something that lets us see THIS culture, THIS story, THIS undefined group of people.
Walker is very passionate about his craft. “You gotta start talking. The stories that we have, the perspective that we carry – no one else has that and if you don’t say it, it won’t be said.” In his beautiful stories Rog reveals a fascinating portrait of himself as an artist.
