Yup, it’s that time of the year again! Today you’re gonna skim through this top 9 most awaited movies list, nod a few times, and maybe even read my thoughts on some of the flicks. And, hey, I don’t blame you, you probably have your own list of must-see movies, and that’s awesome, but I’d still highly recommend adding the following titles to you watch list.
Enough small talk, here are the top 9 most anticipated movies of 2018 (at least for me)!
1. Black Panther (February 16)
Comic book movies are one of the things that help me wake up in the morning. And the closer we get to seeing T’Challa, his kingdom of Wakanda, and all the familiar faces, the more excited I am about what’s going to happen next. We’ve already seen what the Black Panther can do in Captain America: Civil War, but this time he’ll be playing on his home turf. Will Cap be there? Will Bucky get a cameo? Do they really have the Soul Stone in Wakanda? How many Panther suits does the King have? Will this be the best Marvel movie so far? So many questions… But hey, it’s only 2 days away!
2. Tomb Raider (March 16)
It’s about time we all forgot about the awful (yet still enjoyable) Angelina Jolie’s Tomb Raider to scooch over, because a new sexy archaeologist is about to enter the arena. Meet Alicia Vikander – the new Lara Croft aka Tomb Raider. You know the drill: sexy female action here, uncanny mysteries, bad guys everywhere, ancient puzzles, and deadly traps… What more could you possibly want?
3. Ready Player One (March 30)
First there was Ernest Cline’s best-selling book (which I have lying right next to me, waiting to be read) with a simple, yet fascinating premise: what if the nerdy facts and pop-culture references from 80s and 90s could make you the most important person in the world? If you like Easter eggs, weird character cameos, and all things geeky and nerdy, you’re gonna love this movie!
4. Avengers: Infinity War (May 4)
The main reason this year is going to be amazing. The most anticipated movie on this list – Marvel’s Infinity War! I could easily talk about this future masterpiece for hours, but I’ll keep it short. We’ve been inching towards this grand climax of the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe for 10 years, ever since Tony Stark built his first Iron Man suit in 2008. Since then we’ve seen the good, the bad… and the Inhumans TV show. Thanos is finally taking things into his hands, and the Avengers will get their asses kicked. It’s gonna be awesome! May the 4th – save the date!
5. Deadpool 2 (May 18)
Later that month, the second best movie of the year hits the theaters – Deadpool 2, baby! Do I even need to say more? The Merc with a Mouth, Wade Wilson, will be shooting, and punching, and slicing, and swearing, and, of course, breaking the 4th wall like there’s no tomorrow. I’ll see you in theaters!
6. Ant Man and the Wasp (July 6)
Continuing the Marvel hype train, we have the new Ant-Man movie with Paul Rudd. And you know what they say: “Paul Rudd can make even the worst movie fun”, so if that movie is already top-notch, it’ll only get better. We don’t know much about the movie yet, but at this point Marvel can’t go wrong.
7. The Incredibles 2 (July 13)
Finally… FNALLY! We’re getting a sequel to one of the best animated movies ever made. To refresh your memory, and make you feel old, the first Incredibles movie was released in 2004! Mr. Incredible, Violet, Elastigirl, Dash, and baby Jack-Jack, each with their unique individual powers, will come back after all these years. And, knowing Pixar’s track record, I’m absolutely positive it’s going to be a hit!
8. Venom (October 5)
Not much is known about the upcoming Venom movie, except for the fact that Tom Hardy’s playing Eddie Brock, and that we’ll probably get Carnage as the villain. Other than that “Venom” is very much a mystery. I wonder if Spider-Man will make a cameo…
9. Bohemian Rhapsody (December 25)
I don’t know why they’re making this movie, but I wanna see it, especially since Rami Malek is playing young Freddie Mercury. The movie is said to be about his early years, so we’ll get to see the full transformation. Sorry, that’s all the info I’ve got. Almost like I was coerced into adding this movie to the list, but hey, I love Queen, so I’ll probably go see it anyway. Maybe this one’s for the best!
