If you were alive in the late 90s, you’ll probably remember Calista Flockhart. She was the lead actress in a popular show called Ally McBeal, and during the period in which this show aired Calista was also a known name in Broadway theater. However, shortly after the show finished, she pretty much went on an acting hiatus. And there’s a good reason for that!
She met and married none other than Harrison Ford. The two are still married to this day, which is a pretty rare thing in Hollywood. Calista has done some minor roles in the meantime (something in Supergirl, voicing the dolphin in the Madagascar spin-off), but she’s really not been anywhere near as active as she was around the end of the 90s. She did marry Han Solo, and that’s already pretty much peaking at life.
Aside from her acting gigs – or lack thereof – she’s also a genuinely nice person that spends a lot of her time in charity work. She was the spokesperson for Peace over Violence which basically tries its hardest to eliminate all kinds of interpersonal abuse. Calista did this for no less than ten years. The organization tries to reach its goals by doing things like educating young boys/men (I’ll be honest, some of us need it), providing self-defense training for girls and women, advising governments on policy issues and of course providing counselling for the victims.
So what does Calista do now? Well, judging from her IMDB page she still won’t be acting. She seems to enjoy her life out of the spotlights, and that’s something we can only respect. She’ll probably pop back up whenever she feels the need to, and until then she’ll stick to her full-time job of being married to a Hollywood legend. Good on her!
