It’s been around six months since the “Game of Thrones” hit the world, and HBO is already developing several spin-off projects based on the show. One of these future shows will be a prequel, telling the story of the house Targaryen. It will take place 300 years before the events described in the Game of Thrones.
The producers ordered ten episodes of the new series, which will tell the early history of the house of Targaryen, and George R R Martin will personally take part in creating the final version of the script. In the source material, the plot covers a long period of time from the conquest of the Seven Kingdoms by Eigon Targaryen to the regency under Aegon III.
The
news about the upcoming sequels caused a mixed reaction among the
fans. Some believe that the HBO producers are trying to cash in on
their love for the characters, while others are sure that spin-offs
and prequels are an excellent addition for revealing all the secrets
of the saga.
Speaking of spin-offs, before giving us the
nest on the “House of Dragon”, HBO announced that the other
project about the Starks and White Walkers, set thousands of years in
the past, will not be seeing the light of day. At least not yet.
“Game of Thrones” remains one of the most popular and expensive TV shows in the world. Each episode cost HBO several million dollars, and 14 million people watched the finale in the United States alone. It’s unclear when the new spin-off will be released, but let’s hope it’s sooner than later. Although, we know that HBO likes to take their time, so my guess is spring 2021!
