90’s Movies That Haven’t Aged Well

Advertisements

The 90’s were a vastly different time than the world we live in now. It’s only been about two decades, but so much has changed since then. Naturally, this means that some of the movies we adored back then haven’t really aged well. It could be because of how we look at racism and sexism now compared to the 90’s, or it could just be that movies have gotten a lot faster in pace and some of them are just too slow to be watched right now.

Let’s take a look at some classics that really haven’t stood the test of time very well.

Dragonheart

I mean, the movie was mildly amusing when it came out, but the CGI is so dated it looks like those cheap Japanese Godzilla movies.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace

I love some of Star Wars movies, but considering how fast CGI evolves and how much CGI was in this movie, I think we can write this one off as a loss. It just looks like an average mobile game you can download right now.

Batman Forever

I’ll admit the old Tim Burton Batman movies are a guilty pleasure of mine, but let’s be honest: the stiff acting, the cheesy one-liners, the slow and one-dimensional plot, the general weirdness of it all, … It just doesn’t belong in 2019 anymore.

The World Is Not Enough

Well, basically all the Pierce Brosnan Bond movies haven’t aged well, really. The gadgets are way too over the top to be remotely believable and the writing honestly isn’t that good either.

The Net

Yeah, this is no longer how the internet works. Even remotely how it works. Nothing about this movie is relatable anymore because even the people that lived through the 90s barely remember the 90s internet.

Space Jam

Despite rumors that they’re making a second one, the combination of cartoon and live action movie just doesn’t work today. It’s a fun movie for kids, but that’s pretty much the only good thing you can say about it.

Flubber

This Robin Williams comedy had its run when it came out, but it’s honestly a bad movie and we probably just didn’t notice at the time. If you look at it now, you can see what an unhinged mess this movie really is.
