We hear about Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson all the time, but nobody’s talking about Taylor Lautner. In spite of having a stellar start in the Twilight saga, he failed to remain relevant in Hollywood. What went wrong, and why is Taylor Lautner no longer invited to big movie castings? Let’s find out.
He wasn’t thinking ahead
Unlike Robert and Kristen, who were ready to take up other roles after the Twilight Saga ended, Lautner did nothing. All he had in his resume was “Jacob from Twilight” and some small cameo in “Valentine’s Day.” But hey, maybe he just didn’t want to do movies?
A series of bad movies
Taylor made several attempts to conquer Hollywood again, but, unfortunately, in the end, they were all big flops. After Twilight, he starred in Abduction (2011), but the producers would soon find out that the Twilight star alone was not able to pull it off. The movie is currently sitting at 4% on Rotten Tomatoes. 4 years later, the same story happened to “Tracers.” The movie was so bad that it gathered only $ 2.8 million worldwide and was canceled altogether in the US. Taylor’s most recent role was in “Run the Wave.” Of course, it also flopped hard, and Lautner decided to quit acting. At least for now.
Lautner is an overrated actor
He managed to get 7.5 million for his role in “Abduction,” but after that movie bombed, there was no way Taylor would ever see that much money again. His popularity was waning with every day.
His personal life is a PR mess!
The personal life of any famous actor will be used to stir up drama and create scandals. For some reason, Taylor either had no idea that everything he does would be observed by the paparazzi, or he simply didn’t care. In both cases, it’s clear that he should have paid more attention. Good PR can make or break an actor’s career, and he had so many flings throughout the years that the tabloids got bored with him.
There were better werewolves
While Taylor was hesitating whether to embrace his “pretty werewolf” image or take a page from his more successful colleagues and move away from it as far as possible, the audience had already found a new favorite werewolf – the young Dylan O’Brien from the MTV series “Teen Wolf.” Can you blame us?
Taylor accepted his defeat
Talking with reporters, Taylor expressed a desire to distance himself away from his Twilight fame and focus on projects that have little to nothing in common with vampires and werewolves. That’s why Lautner was in no hurry to agree to everything that was offered to him and approached the choice of the next project very carefully. To the point where the producers won’t even offer him anything. Nice work!
