We’ve turned into quite the society, haven’t we? We’ve grown overprotective of the weak, the downtrodden, the discriminated against and the unlucky. And not just the men, but the women and children too.
And it’s those children who suffer the most. Let’s take a look at some things kids could do twenty years ago without anyone batting an eyelash, but you can’t do anymore now. People would throw a hissy fit. Really.
Going To A Friend’s House Unannounced
This pretty much goes for all age groups nowadays though. Try not texting someone and showing up at their house. And then time how long it takes for the cops to arrive.
Eat Questionable Candy
Chocolate shaped like a cigarette? Yes please, I’ll smoke two of those.
Ding Dong Ditch
You can get an actual fine for that now. Back in the day, all people did was yell at you.
Playing In The Dirt
What? Getting dirty and ruining your clothes? How barbaric!
Eating Processed Foods
Screw you, healthy food! I’ll have all my fats, added sugars and additives. And I’ll enjoy them, too!
Trick or Treat Without A Parent
Well, you can, but you’d probably get kidnapped.
Get Left Home Alone
Not saying it’s fun, but at least it was an option back in the day. Now it’s constant parent surveillance. Every single second.
Ride Shotgun In The Car
It’s actually illegal in some countries now. Go figure.
Play Chicken
I mean, traffic just ain’t like it was 20 years ago. You can’t play in that madness anymore. Unless you actually want to end your life, in which case chicken is still a very viable option.
