Recently, the internet has been asking the question: are Gigi Hadid and Leonardo DiCaprio dating? When you consider the fact that Gigi is a young, gorgeous supermodel in her 20s and that’s pretty much Leo’s favorite type of woman to date, we can’t say we’re too surprised. However, many also find that this relationship has interesting timing, especially given the fact that DiCaprio was recently dragged for not dating women over 25. Is this a cleverly constructed PR stunt, or are Gigi and Leo actually a thing? To determine this, we have to rewind a little.
Back in August 2022, Leo DiCaprio broke up with his girlfriend of four years, Camila Morrone. Just a few months over in October 2021, she broke up with her baby daddy and boyfriend Zayn Malik, and romance rumors didn’t start floating around until she apparently began seeing Leo. What started on unfounded rumors online was confirmed when an anonymous source commented to “E! News” that Leo was asking about mutual friends of Gigi and wanted to get to know her.
While Leo is obviously interested in this young and talented IT girl, Gigi is apparently “having fun with it” and “not interested in anything serious”. I mean, if it was Titanic-era Leo, we’d get it, but he’s past his prime while Gigi is in the heart of her youth.
Even Gigi’s father, real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid, spoke to “Daily Mail” about the relationship, saying that he met DiCaprio in St. Tropez several years back and was a “very nice man”. Although he only has positive things to say about Leo, Mohamed isn’t sure about these rumors, as he hasn’t confronted the couple directly. After the chaotic stress of Paris Fashion Week, an anonymous source close to Gigi tells E! News that Gigi is thankful for Leo’s continuous support during her busy calendar of events. With his history of dating models, he must be quite used to it by now!
October 1, 2022: Spotted at the Royal Monceau
During Paris Fashion Week, Gigi and Leo were both in the world’s most romantic city, and we can’t blame them if things escalated there. According to TMZ, the supermodel was seen walking into the Royal Monceau around 10pm by herself, with Leo following her in shortly after and then leaving in the middle of the night. Apparently, he returned to his own hotel room at a separate hotel after, but we certainly wonder what happened in those three hours!
Sept 21, 2022: Leo says what he really thinks about GiGi
In the early and vague beginnings of this relationship, an anonymous source told US Weekly that the actor has always had a “soft spot” for Hadid, claiming that it goes beneath the surface beauty and that he think’s she’s a “wise and cool” woman who has a “cultured and educated” perspective on things. This same source was the one to leak that Gigi and Leo were officially dating and that friends were surprised but happy to hear the news.
September 7, 2022: Camila has moved on
While many speculated that after so many years together, Camila and Leo might reunite, as of September, Camila is unbothered by the fact that Leo has moved on, and she herself has a huge support system of friends who love her and hasn’t been in contact with the actor since the split. Still, it raises an eyebrow for some who remember that on September 7, Camila was spotted with Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner, who happened to be close friends of Gigi.
August 31, 2022: Taking things casually
Ah, the very beginning of this still confusing and unconfirmed love story. This is when things first started heating up between the two, with a source claiming that they hooked up over the summer a few times but have known each other for many years and are now “super attracted” to each other.
