Who doesn’t like ice cream? Nothing can quite compare to the feeling of cold gentleness melting in your mouth on a hot summer day. Some people like to eat it all year round and we can’t blame them! Chefs all over the world come up with new bizarre ice cream recipes every day, trying to improve the already perfect dessert. Some of them are more successful, others are less so, but in the end we, mere consumers, have a unique ability to try some of the yummiest ice creams that have ever existed. Here are 10 delicious new trends you should definitely try this summer.

Ice Cream Tacos
Taco lovers will definitely appreciate this new ice cream invention. Sweet Cup, a Californian ice cream shop, has come up with a nifty idea to mimic the beloved taco look, but use ice cream instead. Don’t worry, your dessert won’t have minced beef all over it, but what you will have is ice cream with unique flavors packed into rounded waffle cones. Chocolate syrup, sprinkles, fizzy sweets and edible gold embellishments only add to the taste.

Kakigori
This traditional Japanese dessert is more than 100 years old. It was first served in Kanagawa prefecture back in 1869 and has remained one of the most popular summer treats since then. Kakigori is made with shaved ice and various syrups. It can taste like cherry, strawberry, green tea, melon, grape, sweet plum, or simply sweet without any flavor at all. Sometimes condensed milk is used to make it a bit sweeter.

Gelato Flowers
i-Creamy Artisan Gelato is one of those companies that aren’t afraid to experiment with Asian flavors or create crazy new recipes. Yet it is not their award-winning flavors that set i-Creamy apart from the rest of ice cream shops – it’s their beautiful gelato flowers! Ice cream has never looked so gorgeous and while taste is definitely important, this artsy form definitely makes i-Creamy desserts even more impressive.

Macaroon Ice Cream Sandwiches
The classic macaroon recipe is kind of perfect on its own, but Bay Area coffee shops went even further and added ice cream to it. Does it taste good? You bet! According to Jessica Yadegaran, a food journalist, it tastes like heaven on earth. Creamy dairy makes the traditional macaroon dessert even gentler and goes really well with a hot cup of coffee.

Dark Ice Cream
‘Come to the dark side, we have ice cream’ – is what we hear when we look at this goth-inspired dessert. If you are tired of glittery rainbow foods and sweet candy-colored cocktails, then this dessert is for you. The ‘goth ice cream’ is actually gray, but this little detail shouldn’t stop you from going to the dark side. It offers a variety of unique flavors: chocolate-dipped cherry, mango sticky rice, baby-blue vanilla, ‘unicorn tears’, and many more.

Ice Cream Burrito
You won’t find ice cream burrito just anywhere – this incredible treat can be found in Sugar Sugar, a dessert shop in Ontario. It’s made with three scoops of delicious ice cream all covered in unicorn dust (aka rainbow sprinkles), which is then wrapped in cotton candy-flavored ‘tortilla’. It’s the perfect meal for any occasion!

Galaxy Ice Cream
We all love space and galaxies are among the most beautiful objects in it. Li-Chi Pan is the genius cook behind this universe-themed gorgeousness. He showcased this homemade dessert in 2016, revealing what intricate designs can be created using only your imagination. It’s a shame he didn’t share the technique he used to create this icy masterpiece. We’d love to try it!

Spaghetti Ice Cream
This dessert may look like a pile of Italian pasta, but it is actually a plate of German ice cream! This unusual-looking treat is made with a quite bizarre noodle-press that turns ice cream into a gorgeous-looking dessert. Vanilla and carbonara ice cream noodles are served with a variety of toppings like nuts and liquor sauce. You can also add a Nutella-based ‘soy sauce’ on top.

Glow-In-The-Dark Ice Cream
Charlie Francis from ‘Lick Me, I’m Delicious’ came up with a truly devious ice cream recipe for Halloween. This special glow-in-the-dark ice cream uses jellyfish proteins that allow it to start glowing once you lick it. The treat is not a cheap delicacy – you’ll have to spend over $200 for a cone, but it might very well become the most incredible dessert you’ve ever tried.

Un-meltable Ice Cream
There is only one thing that’s bad about ice cream – it melts too fast! But what if this could be fixed? Rob Collington has been an ice cream fan all his life, and not just any ice cream – he especially favored the freeze-dried dessert that can be found in camping stores and space museums. That kind of ice cream doesn’t taste too good as it’s made with the cheapest ingredients, but it doesn’t melt. Like, at all! Finally, Rob decided to quit his office job and open Gastronaut Ice Cream that would sell organic freeze-dried ice cream with different flavors. This dessert is a dream come true!
