2015 has been an amazing year for gamers, with Witcher 3, Undertale, Fallout 4 and many-many other bad-ass games. Just like with the upcoming movies, the 2016 games will be numerous and equally exciting.
These are the 10 games of 2016 I’m personally most excited to play (or watch, since I have to consoles) in no particular order. What’s on your to-play list this year?
The Last Guardian (TBA)
Can I just say “FINALLY”? It’s almost too good to be true. After 8 whole years, we all thought that this project is pretty much done, but alas! Sony announced that the game is almost finished and will come exclusively to PS4 (boooo!) in 2016. In this game you play as a dude walking around an empty-ish fantasy world with a giant dragon-eagle-dog-thingy as your companion. Even after all these years we still don’t know jack about this game, which makes it even more exciting. It is said to be a lot like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus and that’s pretty damn cool.
Street Fighter V (16 February 2016)
After the recent MKX back-stab from WB Games, we as gaming fans need more fighting games! Apart from Killer Instinct being released on PC this year, we’ll get Capcom’s legendary Street Fighter V for PC and PS4. Do I even need to tell you about this game? It has all your favorite characters, even better graphics and it’s a perfect party game!
Uncharted 4 A Thief’s End (26 April 2016)
If you’re a fan of the Uncharted series, you probably can’t wait to get your hands on what should be the last installment of Nathan Drake’s adventures. It’s a perfect mix of Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider and third-person action. There will be car chases, treasures, puzzles, and plot twists like you’ve never seen them before.
No Man’s Sky (June 2016)
You’ll be able to explore a procedurally-generated universe with billions of planets, each of them with unique creatures, landmarks and whatnot. We actually don’t know much about the game, but from what we’ve seen – it’s gonna suck all the life out of us.
Dark Souls 3 (March 24)
Dark Souls 1 and 2 were incredibly tough, and were said to be the most punishing games ever. So will we get in DS3? More player deaths, more action, more demon-stabbing, and more hidden lore from Hidetaka Miyazaki’s restless imagination. Prepare to die!
Doom (Spring 2016)
Guess who’s getting a reboot? Yup, it’s your favorite old-school FPS – DOOM. If you’re looking for blood, gore, BFG’s, and demons, the new Doom will have you covered. I just hope the IDKFA and IDDQD will still work, hah!
Dishonored 2 (Spring 2016)
Another one of Bethesda’s kick-ass titles. This time you’ll be playing as Emily, now all grown-up and full of surprises. Get ready to kick, stab, strangle, sneak and slow the freaking time to dispatch your enemies. This action-packed game will be here this spring, along with many other games from this list, and I’ve just noticed that.
Horizon Zero Dawn (TBA)
I got three words for you: hunt robotic dinosaurs! What, you’re still not itching to play Horizon Zero Dawn? Well, there must be something wrong with you then. Or, like me, you don’t have a PS4.
Scalebound (TBA)
I honestly know so little about the game, that I won’t even bother talking about it. I saw the trailer/gameplay and instantly fell in love. Just watch the video!
XCOM 2 (February, 2016)
As a fan of the series, XCOM 2 is my personal #1. After the unprecedented success of XCOM Enemy Unknown/Enemy Within, it was only a matter of time when Firaxis would release the sequel. This time you’re not defending the Earth, because in the 1st game so many players screwed up their runs, that the developers made the bad ending canon – aliens invaded Earth, crushed the opposition (aka You) and are now living among the humans. Your task is to get as many rebel bases as possible and retaliate (well, probably)! It’s pretty much a must-have game for every turn-based junkie.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this list, and let me know which game are you most excited about!
