As we have proven to you time and time again, celebrities are just regular humans. And as such, they go through the same gauntlet of challenges, including betrayals, financial issues, and being bullied as kids for the stupidest reasons imaginable.
Fame certainly does not come easy to everyone, so let’s take a look at some of the young actors who were bullied by their fellow classmates.
1. Mara Wilson
Little star of Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda spoke out about her teenage years and the haters around her. The film critics didn’t quite like her appearance; some dude in a preteen camp called her fat, and probably the worst one of them all was her crush calling her ugly. Ouch! Yup, that’ll do it.
2. Josh Peck
The star of Drake and Josh was also relentlessly teased and bullied at school. On one of the podcasts, Peck mentioned that he was getting crushed his whole life, but the childhood part was especially painful because kids will say the wildest things without a second thought.
3. Megan Fox
Megan’s story may be a lot more lightweight than the rest, but a child’s feelings were hurt, so it counts. In short, when Fox was 15, she went to a Christian school. She was hanging out with her besties at a Halloween party this one time, and her classmate appeared wearing a tight leather catsuit. But when asked if she was cosplaying Catwoman, the girl responded with, “No, I am Megan Fox!” Funny enough, Megan didn’t even know who that person was and why she would say that.
4. Taylor Momsen
Momsen’s breakout role as Cindy-Lou in the fantastic holiday movie “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” did bring her fame, but maybe it wasn’t the right time. The actress admitted that every time she’d go to a new school, the kids wouldn’t even bother to learn her name and call her “Grinch Girl” instead. You can imagine how this kind of attitude would mold a child into a punk-rock rebel.
5. Jonathan Lipnicki
In a classic tale of human envy, Jonathan Lipnicki, who is known for his role in Stuart Little, used to be called a failure of an actor, a has-been, and other synonymous little nicknames. What’s really messed up is that many of the bullies are now his Facebook friends. Having such “friends” would definitely make a person feel like crap all the time and not want to do more movies. Kids are such jerks.
6. Jenna Ortega
Jenna Ortega started her acting career from the very bottom – TV commercials. This was years before she appeared on Disney, but in her interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she stated that some of her classmates would make weird jokes about her, which made Ortega feel uncomfortable. Thankfully, most kids around her didn’t seem to care much.
7. Alyson Hannigan
TV commercials are usually a crapshoot for the actors involved, especially if it’s a drug or hygiene commercial. Unfortunately, Alyson appeared in both of those almost back to back. First, she was teased for promoting indigestion pills. And right after that one, Hannigan was up for a feminine hygiene product. It was a soul-crushing experience for a young actress.
8. Jake Lloyd
Remember the guy who played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Phantom Menace? If you’ve ever wondered why he never continued his acting career, it was because of the constant, relentless streams of hate coming from the hardcore Star Wars fans. Apparently, Jake Lloyd has somehow “ruined their childhood” and now has to pay for his crime. After that movie came out, it made him retire from acting. And now the poor guy has paranoid schizophrenia. He’s truly had a rough go of it.
