The 10 Most Beautiful Greek Islands

Hurrah, it’s summertime again! We finally get to go on a vacation without pretending we like skiing and snow! I mean, I’m pretty fond of mulled wine, but that’s pretty much where that story ends. And if you’re looking for a cheap place to go on a relaxing holiday, look no further than Greece. The country went bankrupt a few years back, so it’s been a pretty cheap holiday destination ever since. And it actually is a truly wonderful country, so there’s no reason not to go there.
Let’s take a look at some amazing Greek islands you could visit sometime in the next year. Well, they’ll be there longer than a year, but why wait longer? “Yolo”, as the kids say.

Mykonos
If you know middle-aged people that go on those sunbathing holidays, you’ve heard of this one. Luckily, there’s a lot more to do in Mykonos than just get a tan and/or sunburn, depending on your complexion. It’s actually a pretty charming island! Also, it’s here that Zeus fought the Titans.

Rhodes
Rhodes is pretty much what you expect when people say “Greek island”. It has a buzzing nightlife, amazing beaches, amazing nature, a near-lethal amount of sunlight, and relics of ancient Greece.

Zakynthos
This is the third largest island in the Ionian Sea. It’s such a wonderfully colorful island, which explains why it was the home of many poets. So inspiring.

Santorini
It sounds Italian, but it’s not! The official Greek name is Thira, but for some reason it’s called Santorini. This island is definitely one of the most romantic destinations in the world.

Corfu
This is also a well-known one. It’s a very popular holiday destination due to its active nightlife and beautiful beaches.

Kos
It’s a very tiny island, but it’s such a marvel of nature. There’s no reason for this island to be any bigger – the small size makes it feel all the more intimate and magical.

Skiathos
This island has about 60 beaches, stretched over a 44 km coastline. You can be damn sure you can find a place to get your tan in here.

Paros
This is the third most popular Greek island. It’s a very nice island with beautifully romantic architecture.

Crete
This is the largest and probably most well known of the Greek isles. It’s a very popular tourist location, because it pretty much has everything you want when you’re on a vacation.

Nisyros
Only a few miles from Kos, Nisyros counts about 1000 permanent inhabitants. The island has rocky beaches that are perfect for hiking and exploring.
