Kay Pike takes the art of Cosplay to a whole new level. She uses body paint to transform herself into stunning real life versions of numerous comic book and animation characters. Instead of wearing costumes – like traditional Cosplay artists do – she painstakingly recreates the looks of superheroes and villains on her skin using body paint. You won’t believe these are Cosplays if she doesn’t move!
Kay even coined a term for her creative endeavor. She calls it cospaint. A marriage of costume play and body painting. It takes the Calgary based model up to 15 hours to play with highlights, shadows, and contours in order to translate two-dimensional comic book patterns into three-dimensional illusions. To achieve marvelous results, Kay uses a huge perfectly lit mirror. Even though she might seem naked, the artist actually uses a layer of latex to cover her breasts. Modesty is above all!
Armed only with body paints and brushes, Kay brilliantly renders the ultra sexy pale villain. She often uses colorful wigs when she deals with female characters. In Lady Death’s case, the cosplayer wears a gorgeous turquoise wig and uses a fan to create the effect of wind-blown hair.
