Top 10 Iconic Cartoon Characters

Cartoons come in all shapes and sizes. For boys, for girls, for adults, for kids, for adolescents, … There’s something out there for everyone. The one thing they all have in common is that every cartoon has one character that stands out. A character that’s different and somehow more (or less) relatable when compared to everyone else.
Whether it’s because they’re quirky, smart, friendly or ignorant – these characters have a place in our hearts until the day we die. Let’s take a look at some of the characters you’ll never forget.

10. Stewie Griffin (Family Guy)
For some mysterious reason Peter and Lois Griffin end up having a brilliant child named Stewie. Stewie is most known for his sarcasm, football-shaped head and science projects. He’s traveled through time and to different dimensions on more than one occasion. Can the other people in the show hear what he’s saying, since he’s a baby? According to Family Guy’s creators, it depends entirely on the joke. If it works, they can hear him. That’s one less writing problem to worry about!

9. Eric Cartman (South Park)
The most known character from South Park, primarily known for his anti-Semitic, homophobic and racist jokes. Yeah, this guy has a pretty nasty mouth on him for a preschooler. He can appreciate a decent fart joke though, so it’s not all bad.

8. Bojack Horseman
Bojack Horseman starred in a family sitcom in the 90s and hasn’t had a real acting gig since. He’s grown bitter (and turning into an alcoholic) and is trying to get back into the spotlight. Oh, and he’s a talking horse. I should’ve probably opened with that.

7. Sterling Archer (Archer)
Take James Bond and exaggerate all his character features. Ladies’ man? Misogynist. Loves a good martini. Alcoholic. You now have Sterling Archer, the world’s best secret agent. And drug dealer. And private investigator. It’s a long story.

6. Bender (Futurama)
In the year 3000, humanity will have outdone itself and created/discovered/visited alcoholic, sentient robots. What a time to be alive. He even has a cabinet in his body where he can store his own booze. Come on science, make it happen!

5. Roger Smith (American Dad)
So we’ve had an alcoholic horse, and alcoholic secret agent and an alcoholic robot. What else could a cartoon create that gives a new spin on good ol’ alcoholism? Yup, an alcoholic alien. Saved by Stan Smith in Area 51, Roger has been living in his attic for years. He’s a drunk, and he likes to play dress-up. Reminds me of uncle John at Christmas dinner.

4. Spongebob Squarepants
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? John Cena! And right next to him lives Spongebob Squarepants. He likes to eat burgers and is best friends with a starfish. What’s not to like about this guy?

3. Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)
Who eats a lot of donuts, sleeps at his job at the power plant and drinks a lot? That’s right, Ryan from accounting! Also, Homer Simpson. Created in 1987, he’s still one of the most influential cartoon characters of all time. Of all time!

2. Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes)
What’s up, doc? Bugs is the best known of all the Looney Tune’s characters, and has shaped countless childhoods by making Elmer Fudd hunt that “silly wabbit” for hours on end. Also, it taught kids to make fun of the kid with the speaking disability. Win some, lose some.

1. Scooby Doo
Solving the biggest mysteries together with his cowardly friend Shaggy, Scooby Doo is the dog we all wanted as a kid. He even had a snack named after him! Scooby and the posse can fix any problem you have in 20 minutes or less. And the worst part is – those crooks would’ve gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids.
