If you think all games are just jumping on turtles and shooting fireballs at monsters – first, I really hope you know other games than Mario, and second – you’re wrong. In fact, many of the older popular games, that were targeted at kids, had incredible plot twists and outlandish references, few of us would actually understand (if any at all). This idea also applies to modern games, but nowadays most of them use the same cookie-cutter strategies to attract new players: superb graphics, lots of explosions, blood, gore, and even more explosions. But just because other games are all cute and sparkly, it doesn’t mean they’re not hiding some dark, wicked secrets, right?

Developers aren’t always responsible for the controversies, and in the case of Tomb Raider, a bit of clever coding by someone who clearly had too much time on their hands, spawned what is so accurately referred to as Nude Raider. Making Lara Croft lose her top, the Nude Raider patch gives players an opportunity to raid ancient tombs while also enjoying the view of Croft’s more notable assets. The controversial patch quickly knocked down Lara Croft’s image, as a strong female figure, nearly negating the entire point of her strong personality.
